I've been reading since I was my oldest daughter's age….thanks to R.L. Stine & Christopher Pike…and later on thanks to Anne Rice.  Those 3 authors changed my life and I have been obsessed with reading ever since.

4 moons - "Assumption" by Aurora Rose Reynolds

Assumption - Aurora Rose Reynolds

Assumption is the first book to Aurora Rose Reynolds new series, and she immediately hooked me into the story like she did with her Until series.

Aurora definitely knows how to write alpha males into her stories because Kenton Mayson is the ULTIMATE Alpha male. He’s protective, over-bearing at times, and very drool-worthy. Although, the first moment he appears in Assumption will make readers assume he is a BIG jerk, especially with how he treated Autumn Freeman. Autumn ends up with the sexy alpha male, when she witnesses people at her job at Las Vegas get killed. The cops now need to catch the murderer and her friend/co-worker Link thinks she will be safer with his friend in Tennessee. Autumn has never met Kenton and the minute she meets him, her first impression is that is very good-looking, but he is also a jerk. He assumes everything horrible about her because of what he knows of what she was doing in Las Vegas. He never asks her why she was doing what she was going, and if she has another life outside of the job she had in Las Vegas.

Let’s just say Autumn is going to put Kenton in his place several times, which is why I adored everything about Autumn. She was a fighter through everything, even when it came to Kenton. I loved how she handled the situations she was put into, even with the crazy ex-girlfriend and Kenton’s co-workers. ***The scene with Kenton’s bed was epic!!!  =)  I would’ve done the same thing.

Kenton is the typical alpha male, which he can be a jerk at times, but in the end he wins you over with his charming personality and his bedroom skills. He has way of treating Autumn like a Queen, after he assumes things about her. He knows how to make it up to her.

Not only is Autumn dealing with someone trying to kill her, but she’s faced with other dilemmas that she handles very well (like I previously stated). I will say this, Autumn became a favorite female character from ALL of the books I’ve read from Aurora. Her personality and her spunk was entertaining in the story. I love reading stories that have the female character being a fighter back and not just a damsel in distress.

The only problem I had, while reading Assumption was some timeline issues that happened at the end. I was confused with certain parts that jumped too fast and got lost on what was going on. At the end of the last chapter and the epilogue, it got confusing a bit. I was able to determine what was going on after I read it a second time (which I didn’t mind doing because there was some romance involved). I will say this, there is  a certain thing mentioned with Autumn that I was glad she got closure with. (Another favorite part in the story)

I give this book 4 full moons and recommend it to readers that enjoyed Aurora’s Until series and readers of the contemporary romance genre.

I received a complimentary copy of the book for the blog tour (TRSOR Promotions via the Author) in exchange for an honest review.
